University of Mississippi sets events to observe 50th anniversary of integration

OXFORD, Miss. – On the 50th anniversary of integration at University of Mississippi, the focus is on commemorating 50 years of progress in racial reconciliation. The university is planning several events throughout late September and early October, including panel discussions, lectures, a prayer service, a campus walk and tributes.

View a complete list of events. Media are welcome to cover any of these events. The university’s Imaging Services department will be staffing most of the events and will have high-resolution photography available on request.

For those who wish to cover “50 Years of Integration,” featuring Harry Belafonte at 6 p.m. Oct. 1 in the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, the Office of Media and Public Relations is handling credentialing. Only credentialed media will be guaranteed seats at this event, and a limited number of credentials are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
